Wheated Brooklyn

I left our starter out overnight and it did it's thing. It seems at least once a year it is left out overnight in a hot kitchen. This time it was a pretty mild overflow, but sometimes there are more explosive results. Has anyone had to clean dried starter off a ceiling?
.
Wheated's sourdough starter was 'caught' in 2009 in Woodside, Queens. I have not personified it with a name, but I like to think as a New Yorker it is just a little more rugged. It too will survive this COVID crap.

What fun!

Haha oh man, like that time when luis and I left the starter out. This seriously made me laugh

I thank the start of this post.

Can’t wait until I taste another of your perfect pies. Sigh. One day soon hopefully.

Let’s have a starter naming competition...

Starting my sourdough starter today. Can't wait for Wheated to reopen so I can have my favorite pizzas!

A friend named her starter Clint Yeastwood. Motto: Bake my day.

Damn and we all thought we were hardcore...

Wheated Brooklyn

Quick update. First - Thank you everyone who has supported Wheated and my staff over the last two months! It has been and continues to be amazing. I can not say thank you enough
.
At this time, I am pausing soup and whiskey sales to focus on reopening Wheated and what we will be offering. Details to follow as we get closer to a reopen date.
.
Stay well, and thank you.

Wheated Brooklyn

I have these whiskies available in limited quantities. Some are very limited (like I have 1 bottle to sell). Some I have more of. All require a soup purchase and pickup or delivery in NYC. All of these are new and unopened. I preemptively apologize as I am sure many of these will sell out before all who are interested get what they had hoped to order.
.
Note: Delivery may be limited based on order size and distance from Wheated. Fwiw, I have been able to deliver all orders made so far. I just feel like I have to say that if anyone is considering a $30 bottle and wants it delivered to the Bronx. Not gonna happen ;).
.
.
Email wheatedbrooklyn@gmail.com with your ph#, delivery address, what your would like to order with homemade chicken soup, and I will be in touch.
.
Ty for supporting Wheated Stay safe, stay well

We love the Knob Creek special bottling. Thank you David!

Came for the bourbon, stayed for the soup! Delish. Thanks, David!

Wheated Brooklyn

Are homemade chicken soup and whiskey deliveries still happening????
.
Yes, this is still happening! I continue to sell the whiskey here to help Wheated. Ordering is easy - just email wheatedbrooklyn@gmail.com what you would like to order. Please include your phone number for order processing and your delivery address. I will then give you a call. NOTE - it may be a day or two for a call as I am working on deliveries as well as other things that come up.
.
There are currently four Wheated private barrel picks available. I personally selected all of these. Call me biased but they are all very good. I am happy to say that the 2nd half of our Ragtime Rye barrel arrived and it is again available. The 2 year Tennessee rye is also back with a very limited qty available (I found a case I stashed under some other stuff):
.
-Ragtime Rye 100 proof, 3 Year 11 month $52
-Elijah Craig 94 proof 9 year $28 (18 bottles left)
-Knob Creek 120 proof 9 year 10 month 120 proof $50
-Tennessee Rye (Dickel) 118.4 proof 2 year minimum age (tastes older) $55 (to order this rye, I am asking you order one other bottle from above. Only 10 bottles left)
.
.
With any purchase you must also purchase a pint of soup ($3). NYC sales tax is extra. Delivery in NYC only. Deliveries are normally made Tuesdays and Fridays. I deliver to Queens and Manhattan weekly but if you are somewhere farther from Wheated, it may take a bit to get a group of orders near you to make the delivery efficient. Be assured, delivery will happen.

Wheated Brooklyn

A huge THANK YOU everyone! The love and generosity for our employees has been absolutely wonderful.
.
.
We sold $10,000 worth of soup and whiskey and have sent that out. The GoFundMe donations (and tips that I was given) are above and beyond that. We are nearing $4300 now. THANK YOU!
.
.
Currently, I continue to sell whiskey and soup to strengthen Wheated's position. I have to assume a struggle as we ease into reopening and the challenges that will arise. My concerns about health and safety continue but there is a shift I feel. I have started to think about how we might start again selling pizza. With all the uncertainty, my best guess is still weeks.
.
.
Thank you for all the support! I can not say that enough. Stay safe, stay strong. ❤️❤️❤️
